Vera Nemirova - director of the WORLD PREMIERE of State Opera-Ruse "ALMA"

Vera Nemirova is one of the brightest names in contemporary opera directing in Europe. Born in Sofia, she is a descendant of the Nemirov family - her mother is the opera singer and teacher Sonya Nemirova, and her father is the opera director Evgeni Nemirov, son of the writer Dobri Nemirov. After the death of the father, the family left for Rostock in East Germany. In 1996 Vera Nemirova graduated from the Hans Eisler Academy of Music in Berlin with a degree in opera direction. In 1999 she graduated with a second degree in music directing in media - video, television and film. Since 1998 he started his independent directing activity with productions in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Latvia, Romania, Bulgaria.

2002 "Countess Maritza" by Kalman at the Volksoper in Vienna;
2003 "Macbeth" by Verdi at Opera Bonn;
2004 "The Girl from the Golden West" by Puccini at Deutsche Oper, Berlin;
2005 Verdi's Rigoletto in Lucerne;
2006 "Euryanthe" by Weber and "Otello" by Verdi at the Semperoper, Dresden; "The Marriage of Figaro" by Mozart in Riga;
2007 "Tannhäuser" by Wagner in Frankfurt am Main;
Tchaikovsky's "Dame of Spades" at the Staatsoper Wien, conducted by Seiji Ozawa;
2009 "Macbeth" by Verdi at the Staatsoper Wien;
2010 Lulu by Berg, debut performance at Salzburg Festival, with conductor Marc Albrecht;
From 2010 to 2012. Vera Nemirova realized the entire Wagner tetralogy The Ring of the Nibelung in Frankfurt am Main, under the baton of Sebastian Weigle.
2011 "Antigone" by Tommaso Traetta, conducted by René Jacobs at the Staatsoper, Berlin.
2015 The African Woman by Meyerbeer - co-production with Deutsche Oper Berlin with Roberto Alanya in the title role;
2017 - Wagner's Die Walküre at the Salzburg Easter Festival conducted by Christian Thielemann in co-production with the Beijing Music Festival;
2019 "Wilhelm Tell" by Rossini in Seoul, South Korea;
2020 Verdi's Don Carlos for the Salzburg Easter Festival, a co-production with the Dresden Opera, which due to the cnivore pandemic is performed in 2021.
2022 Tchaikovsky's Dame of Spades at the Staatsoper Wien with conductor Valery Gergiev - a recreation of its 2007 production on the same stage, conducted by Seiji Ozawa;

In 2008 he worked in Bulgaria for the first time. In Sofia Opera and Ballet he staged "The Girl from the Golden West" by Puccini with conductor Vladimir Gyaurov.

2015 "Katerina Izmailova" by Shostakovich at the Rousse Opera with conductor Naiden Todorov

2019 The African Girl by Meyerbeer in Stara Zagora with conductor Ivaylo Krinchev

2021 "Countess Maritza" by Kalman at the State Opera Varna, half a century after the production on the same stage of the same title by her father Evgeni Nemirov. Conductor Eraldo Salmieri

2022 In partnership with the conductor Pavel Balev realized a new version of Tchaikovsky's "Dame of Spades", which became a culminating event for the 75th anniversary of the Varna Opera Theatre and the Varna Summer International Music Festival.

2022 "Ariadne of Naxos" by R. Strauss at Sofia Opera and Ballet with conductor Evan Alexis Christ

2023 for the XIV Festival of the State Opera Varna "Opera in the Summer Theatre" puts for the first time in Varna's opera history "The Cunning Little Vixen" by Janacek, again with the conductor Pavel Balev, and for the X Festival of the State Opera Plovdiv - "The Mercy of Titus" by Mozart, with conductor Dian Chobanov.

Awards

Vera Nemirova was a finalist at the Second International Opera Directing Competition in Graz, Austria, in 2000. In 2001-2002 she was a scholarship holder of the Academy of Arts in Berlin, which awarded her its prize in the Performing Arts section. From 2001 to 2003 she was a member of the Academy of Contemporary Musical Theatre at the Deutsche Bank Cultural Fund, with an award for her production of The Feast of the Lambs by Nobel Prize winner Elfriede Jelinek and Olga Neuwirth, performed in Hamburg.

Vera Nemirova's directorial readings have been nominated for the best productions of the year in the prestigious international magazine Opernwelt. In the March 2012 issue of the same magazine, her production "Sunset of the Gods", the fourth part of Wagner's tetralogy "The Ring of the Nibelung", received an extremely high rating. In 2021, she will present a new edition of her book "The Nietzsche Wagner". Vera Nemirova was nominated for Director of the Year by Opernwelt magazine for her "sensitive musicality and respect for transcendence" in her directorial interpretation of the opera Don Carlos by J. G. Wagner. Verdi at the Sepmeroper Dresden.

Vera Nemirova is guest professor at the Hans Eisler Academy of Music in Berlin, associate professor at the University of Vienna and permanent guest director of the State Opera Varna.
