On 12 May the Rousse Opera Orchestra returned from a tour in Germany and Austria.
With 15 concerts in the largest concert and sports halls in German cities, including Berlin, Munich, Frankfurt, Cologne, and also in Vienna, the Ruthenian musicians took part in concerts-performances, presenting live the musical illustrations of the most famous past and contemporary Walt Disney animated films.
The series of concerts began in Riesa and Munich on April 18 and ended in Nuremberg on May 11 in the almost month-long tour.
The concert program was created a year ago specifically to commemorate Disney's 100th anniversary. Then the Rousse Opera Orchestra was the first instrumental ensemble to premiere it in the UK. A month ago, in a revamped version of this memorable show, the ensemble, which was specially constructed as a classic big Hollywood orchestra (Hollywood Sound Orchestra) successfully presented it on the biggest German stages.
The "Disney in Concert" show was an unforgettable attractive multimedia experience, including the most beautiful animated movie scenes projected on a huge screen. With the mastery of the Rousse musicians, the animation made an impact through the unforgettable musical moments performed live by the orchestra. Together with the Ruse Opera Orchestra, star soloists took to the stage with the songs of Disney.
The Rousse Opera Orchestra brought to life the scores of the greatest songs and instrumental suites from the beloved Walt Disney films with the most spectacular film scenes and made the audience believe in the magic of cinema again.
Wilhelm Keitel is the conductor who once again stood at the conductor's podium in front of the Ruse musicians. After several days of active rehearsals in mid-April, under the direction of the German conductor, the Rousse Opera Orchestra began another tour. Born in Schwäbisch Hall, Wilhelm Keitel studied with Wolfgang Tromer in Düsseldorf, Charles Mackerras in Vienna, and with Leonard Bernstein and Seiji Ozawa in Tanglewood and New York. He has also assisted Christoph Eschenbach with the Tonhalle Orchestra in Zurich and at Covent Garden, London. He has an extensive operatic repertoire, numerous television and radio recordings, his own CD label and publications. In recent seasons his artistic preferences have been directed towards this type of concert programming, which includes the Disney in Concert show. At the end of the tour, Maestro Keitel, satisfied with the potential of the Ruse Opera and Symphony Orchestra, stated that the creative partnership with the Ruse Opera will continue in the next creative season.
