IN MEMORIAM

IN MEMORIAM

The restless soul of the artist Valentin Tokadzhiev flew away...

Another irreparable gap in the inexplicable and long-suffering face of the Rousse Opera...

The artist's studio that was the humble artist's artistic home will no longer be the same. Yes, at first the memories will remain - the memories of warm moments, of silence over empty glasses, of the smells of tobacco smoke and brightly coloured paints, the memories of gentle conversations and heated arguments, and then, with us - they too will disappear into the dark fields of the past.

Valio could not create in a richly provided theatrical art studio. He expressed his talents in the bohemian studio of our Opera, imbued with ideals and deprivation. That is why his mission was to create beauty together with his colleagues most often from nothing. He was able to invent, to find ingenious and economical solutions that took the audience into the fantasy worlds of music, of singing, of dance. In this way, quietly and from afar, he helped the artists, the directors, the stage designers, so that they too could express their talents.

They say that when you wish hard, after a long stare into the depths of a mirror, you will be able to see the silhouette of anyone you can think of who has flown away from our troubled world. And I, who have also more than once received the help of our opera painter, every day when I look into the mirror in my study, whose frame, gathered from the dump, his dexterous hands saved and covered with gold, will think of Valentin Tokadzhiev...

God forgive his restless soul.
