A little girl - Annie - loves to fantasize. She invents wonderful countries. The little Yellow helps her to get into one of them - the Kingdom of Flowers. This kingdom has a queen - Flora. There are laws too - it is forbidden for flowers to know what the sun is before they sprout, it is forbidden to enter the Magic Cave of Spring where flowers are born.

Queen Flora's advisor, the bee Echelenza, welcomes Annie and brings her to the class of the violets (Siyana, Viola, Lucrezara) and their teacher, the grasshopper Podskotsi. The vain Rose Rosabella tricks Annie into telling her about the sun and is punished on the shores of the Sea of Solitude - where the plucked flowers and the ban-breaking flowers live in greyness, watched over by the mole Curtago. Annie falls into the class of mischievous weeds (Bodie the thistle, Repi the burdock, Riva the nettle) with Gargaryan as her mentor.

Bodie the Thistle takes her to the Sea of Solitude, where Annie learns from Curtago the Mole that she can free Rosabella if she plucks a sprig of white mistletoe from the entrance to the Magic Cave of Spring. There, Annie breaks the second prohibition, enters the cave, sees Princess Spring's secret, and is arrested by the guard ants. Queen Flora orders Annie to sprout violets in her mother's garden. If her mother recognizes her - even in the form of a flower - Annie will return to the world of men. If not, she will remain in the Kingdom of Flowers as Heliana de Primavera, a court lady to Princess Spring. Of course the mother knows her daughter.
