The art of dance is a unique journey through time, an opportunity for expressing the essence of the human spirit. As an art form, it has come down to us from Antiquity—the dawn of modern European civilization, its “childhood.” During the era of late European Romanticism, many choreographic creations were set down in writing, preserved, and thus continuously reproduced, even to this day. Thanks to this, the choreographic visions of 19th-century masters are able to “come alive” and exist in our own time. Today, new ballet works are also being created, bringing avant-garde artistic solutions and fresh interpretations of works from the past. Past masterpieces are often revived for modern audiences with the choreographic and directorial choices that originated at the time of their creation. This tradition continues in countless productions by ballet companies all over the world.
The Ballet of the State Opera Ruse upholds some of the highest classical standards in Bulgaria, making it an attractive center for ballet artists from across the globe. This season, the Ruse Opera Ballet has also embarked on two new artistic missions: turning its gaze toward Bulgarian ballet titles and seeking pathways to prestigious international recognition - both of which it has already begun to pursue successfully.
