BAROQUE EVENING

Conductor Dimitar Kosev presents an original Baroque music program, in which he will also appear on stage in the role of a brilliant harpsichordist. The presence of the harpsichord in Baroque music is irreplaceable and is not only part of the obligatory harmonious bass accompaniment (basso continuo), but often provides an opportunity to demonstrate the stunning mastery of the harpsichordist who participates in the performance. In the Baroque era, the role of the conductor was not yet clearly defined. His functions of determining the tempo, for the precise placement of the beginning and end of the performance of the corresponding musical part of the concert pieces, as well as for accompanying the recitatives in opera works, were performed by the harpsichordist. With its specific sound, with the precise determination of the harmonies, the harpsichord is also present in the works of composers from the Classicist era. The program of this concert, subject to the joyful emotions, the feeling of beauty and harmony, travels through time with works by the most famous and beloved composers - Antonio Vivaldi, George Frideric Handel and Joseph Haydn. The soloists in this original concert program are some of the most passionate interpreters of Baroque music, who are part of the orchestral composition of the Ruse Opera.
