THE NUTCRACKER

Ballet by P. I. Tchaikovsky

For the first time in Bulgaria the ballet The Nutcracker was staged on the stage of the Rousse Opera in 1962. In 2011, choreographer Natalia Osipova offered European audiences her original interpretation of the ballet by P. И. The Nutcracker. It was staged with her private ballet company with the international participation of ballet artists from Russia and France. The ballet company toured the production to Lille, Brussels and Antwerp with multiple performances to audiences of many thousands. The project was revived between 2012 and 2016 and has enjoyed increased interest from audiences in France.

Skillfully and harmoniously, with confidence in her knowledge of both classical means of expression and current modern dance techniques, with her inherent inimitable creative range, Osipova combines in her staging of The Nutcracker the brightest features of classical dance and neo-classical, delicately refracted through the expressiveness of modern dance. The scenography and costumes are based on her designs in the master theatre studios in St. Petersburg bring the warmth of the intimate feeling with which each person experiences the miracle of the Christmas holidays every year. At the same time, the decorations are glamorous and imposing, memorable and charming with their beauty. The ballet is filled with the pre-holiday feeling of the arrival of something long-awaited and evokes that thrill of impatience that every person knows from the days of his childhood. The innocence, the charming simplicity, the childlike revelation, thanks to which we enter the world of children's fantasies, creates the unique atmosphere of ballet, which always captivates the senses of the audience.
