MUSIC AND LIGHT

“Music and Light” is a festive concert program dedicated to the Unification Day – September 6.
On the day of one of the most dignified events in Bulgaria’s modern history – the unification of the artificially created state of Eastern Rumelia with the Principality of Bulgaria, State Opera Ruse turns the gaze of the Bulgarian people, of its audience, towards national history and the elevation of the Bulgarian creative spirit.
The program features fragments from symphonic and operatic works by Bulgarian composers Pancho Vladigerov, Marin Goleminov, Parashkev Hadjiev, and Theodosii Spassov. The virtuoso kaval performer shares the festive stage with the soloists of State Opera Ruse – Tsvetelina Vassileva, Alexander Krunev, Dobromir Momekov – and with folk singer Tsvetina Marinova. The original selection of the celebratory program, in which the choir and orchestra of State Opera Ruse shine, was curated by conductor Vladimir Boshnakov, who leads from the podium.
The celebration of the Bulgarian language and Bulgarian music shines forth together with the colors of Bulgaria’s nature. White – like the snowdrifts crowning the peaks of Rila and Pirin; green – like the depths of the Balkan forests; red – like the blood-tinted sunsets over the Danube; blue – like the untouchable skies of the Rhodopes and the endless horizon of the Black Sea; yellow – like the boundless Dobrudzha fields before the harvest…
"Music and Light" is a journey of the Bulgarian spirit through time.
