Petar Kostov was born in 1979 in Yambol.

In 2003, he gets his master's degree at the "Prof. Pancho Vladigerov" Academy of Music in the class of Prof. Asen Selimski. Shortly after that, the young tenor became the winner of a scholarship for specialization at the "Boris Hristov" Academy in Rome, where he improved his singing style bel canto in the spirit of the Italian tradition with the pedagogues Antonio Boye and Mirella Paruto - names from the golden book of the Arena di Verona. In 2006, Peter Kostov was invited to do another specialization by Bruno Cali - President of the Academy "Santa Cecilia" - Rome. The young singer completed his training under the famous operetta artist and brilliant tenor Aron Aronov. After his return to Bulgaria, Petar Kostov made his debut on the stage of the State Opera-Ruse with the role of Alfred Germont ("La Traviata") in April 2006. Soon after that, he also debuted as Rudolph in Puccini's "La bohème". He performed this role repeatedly in different settings. Since 2008, Petar Kostov has been a soloist at the Burgas State Opera. Peter Kostov's performances are expected, desired, and are performed on the stages of all Bulgarian opera houses. In his repertoire, tenor Petar Kostov includes the roles of Pinkerton ("Madame Butterfly"), Turiddu ("Cavalleria Rusticana"), Lenski ("Eugene Onegin"), Grigory from "Boris Godunov" (for MF "Varna Summer" in 2008. ), Ismaele ("Nabucco"), Don Jose ("Carmen"), The Duke of Mantua ("Rigoletto"), Ricardo ("Un Ballo in Maschera"), Vladimir from "Prince Igor" for a production at the Sofia Opera, Sergei (" Katerina Izmailova" "). In 2011, Petar Kostov made his international debut with the Ruse Opera in the role of Alfred from "La Traviata" in a number of theaters in Spain. In 2012, the tenor toured with Verdi's Requiem and with the role of Cassio ("Othello") in France, Germany, Austria, and the Netherlands. At the Summer Festival in Solothurn-Switzerland, Petar Kostov participated in the production of "Rigoletto", and in the opening of the "Giuseppe Di Stefano" Festival in Oderzo-Italy, with Verdi's Requiem. Petar Kostov toured in Tokyo with Beethoven's Ninth Symphony, guest starring countless times at the Summer Festival in Graz-Austria, in Villach-Austria again with "La bohème", on the stage of National Palace of Culture-Sofia with "Katerina Izmailova" and "Nabucco", at the MF "Varna Summer" with "La bohème", and in 2016 he was a guest at a gala concert of the Macedonian Opera and Ballet. Among the last major roles of the artist is the role of Samson from "Samson and Delilah", which is a real challenge for every tenor, and his role of Iliya in the brilliant production of "The Madcap" by Parashkev Hadjiev, with which Petar Kostov delighted the audience from all over the country during the tours of the Ruse Opera. Petar Kostov has sung on all opera stages and participated in all festivals in Bulgaria. As the performer of the role of Sergei, Petar Kostov is part of the team in the production of "Katerina Izmailova" by Shostakovich, which won the "Crystal Lyre".

After his return to Bulgaria Peter Kostov made his debut on the stage of the State Opera-Ruse with the role of Alfred Germont ("La Traviata") in April 2006. Soon after, he also made his debut as Rudolfo in Puccini's La Boheme. He has performed this role many times in various productions. Since 2008 Peter Kostov is also a soloist of the State Opera-Burgas. Peter Kostov's performances are expected, desired and take place on the stages of all Bulgarian opera houses.

In his repertoire the tenor Peter Kostov includes the roles of Pinkerton ("Madame Butterfly"), Thuridu ("Village Honour"), Lensky ("Eugene Onegin"), Gregory from "Boris Godunov" (for the Varna Summer Festival in 2008), Ishmael ("Nabucco"), Don José ("Carmen"), Duke of Mantua ("Rigoletto"), Riccardo ("Masked Ball"), Vladimir from "Prince Igor" for the Sofia Opera production, Sergei ("Katerina Izmailova").

In 2011 Peter Kostov made his international debut with the Rousse Opera in the role of Alfred from La Traviata in a number of theatres in Spain. In 2012 the tenor toured with Verdi's Requiem and the role of Cassio ("Otello") in France, Germany, Austria and the Netherlands. At the Summer Open-Air Festival in Solothurn-Switzerland Peter Kostov took part in the production of Rigoletto, and at the opening of the Giuseppe Di Stefano Festival in Oderzo-Italy - with Verdi's Requiem.

Peter Kostov has toured in Tokyo with Beethoven's Ninth Symphony, he has been a guest of the Summer Festival in Graz-Austria, in Villach-Austria again with Bohemi, on the stage of the National Palace of Culture in Sofia with Katerina Izmailova and Nabuco, at the Varna Summer Festival with Bohemi, and in 2016 he was a guest in a gala concert of the Macedonian Opera and Ballet.

Among his recent major roles are the role of Samson from "Samson and Delilah", which is a real challenge for any tenor, and his role as Elijah in the brilliant production of "Mad Gidia" by Parashkev Hadjiev, with which Peter Kostov delighted audiences across the country during the tour of the Rousse Opera.

Petar Kostov has sung on all opera stages and participated in all festivals in Bulgaria.

As a performer of the role of Sergei, Peter Kostov is part of the team of the production of Shostakovich's Katerina Izmailova, which won the Crystal Lyra.
