Steliyana Dimitrova-Hernani was born in Plovdiv in a family of musicians. The heredity and creativity in her professional growth as the Ruse choir conductor are remarkable. Her grandfather, Stefan Georgiev-Hernani, is one of the founders of the Ruse Opera and, along with that, an active figure and supporter of the Ruse Philharmonic. Steliyana's father is the conductor Atanas Dimitrov, a longtime performer of the choirs of the Ruse Opera, the Plovdiv Opera, and the Ruse Choir "Rodina". Steliyana's mother - Mariana Stefanova - accompanist for many years in the Ruse Opera and choirmaster of one of the other remarkable Ruse choirs "Danube Sounds". In 1994 Steliyana Dimitrova-Hernani graduated from the Rousse National School of Arts "Prof.Vesselin Stoyanov" with a major in oboe, and in 1999 she graduated from the Academy of Music, Dance and Fine Arts - Plovdiv with a major in music pedagogy and piano in Prof. Georgi Kanev's class. In 1997, Steliyana joined the ranks of the "Danube Sounds" choir as a chorister, and a year later, in 1998, she was also a member of the choir of the Ruse Opera. Dimitrova is a graduate and follower of the famous Bulgarian conductor Mihail Angelov. Since 2011, Steliyana Dimitrova-Hernani has been the conductor of the "Danube Sounds" choir, and since 2012 she has also been the conductor of the opera choir of the State Opera-Ruse. In 2013, Steliyana Dimitrova graduated with a Master's degree in choral conducting at the New Bulgarian University in the guest lector Prof. Teodora Pavlovich's class. The repertoire of the young chorus master of the Ruse Opera for the seven creative seasons of work in the most active Bulgarian opera theater is extremely rich and constantly expanding. Among the premiere titles she has prepared with the operas "Falstaff" (MF "March Music Days" 2013), "Hoffmann's Tales" (MF "March Music Days" 2014), "Katerina Izmailova" (MF "March Music Days" 2015), ) "The Knight of the Rose/Der Rosenkavalier" (MF March Music Days 2017), "Macbeth" (MF March Music Days 2018 and MF "Hunedoara Lyrica" - Romania 2018), "Troubadour"/Il trovatore (MF "Hunedoara Lyrica" - Romania 2018), "The Flying Dutchman"/Der fliegende Holländer 2014, "Maria Desislava" 2012, 2017 (Choir "Danube Sounds" and Choir of the Ruse Opera), "Fidelio" (Choir "Danube Sounds"), "Hymn of the Nations" by G. Verdi, the oratorios "Molenie"(supplication) by Nayden Andreev, performed in the "Bulgaria" Hall in Sofia in honor of the enthronement of the Bulgarian Patriarch Neophyte and "The Armed Man" by Karl Jenkins, performed in the "March Music Days" program of the Music Festival in Ruse and at the "Bulgaria" Hall in Sofia, Requiem by Gabriel Foret (Danube Sounds Choir) in Ruse, at the end of 2019. The repertoire of Steliyana Dimitrova-Hernani also includes operas with remarkable choral participation: "Don Carlos", "Aida", "Nabucco", "Otello", "Rigoletto", "La Traviata", "Norma", "Carmen", "Tosca". "Turandot", "Madame Butterfly", "La bohème", "The Magic Flute"; the oratorios "Carmina Burana", and "Stabat Mater" by Rossini and Pergolesi, the cantata "Alexander Nevsky" by Prokofiev, the requiems by Verdi, Mozart, Fauré and Rüter; the operettas "The Queen of Chardasha", "The Merry Widow"/ "Die lustige Witwe" and "The Bat"/ "Die Fledermaus", as well as other opera and operetta titles with less choral participation. Most of the pieces were presented not only on the Ruse stage but also in Sofia, Varna, Veliko Tarnovo, Sevlievo, Troyan, Gabrovo, and other cities in the country, as well as at festivals in Solothurn - Switzerland, Oderko - Italy, and France, International Festival for opera and classical music "Hunedoara Lyrica" - Romania (2018). In 2023, the Choir of the State Opera Ruse was awarded the Crystal Lyre in the "Choral Art" category for the Easter concert on April 13 with the performance of Requiem by Antonin Dvořák with conductor Emil Tabakov. The same year, on May 24, Steliyana Dimitrova-Hernani was awarded the "Ruse" Award in the "Performance Arts" category for her high professionalism and inspired work as a conductor of the Choir of the State Opera Ruse and of the "Danube Sounds" mixed choir.
