Soprano

Zvetelina Vassileva is among the leading names of outstanding Bulgarian opera artists.

After graduating from the National Academy of Music "Prof. Pancho Vladigerov", the young singer successfully debuted on the stage of the National Opera in the role of Amelia from "(A Masked Ball" (Un Ballo in Maschera). This debut shows her merits as a Verdi singer, and in subsequent seasons she performed central roles in three other major titles by the Italian composer - Elizabeth in Don Carlos, Desdemona in Otello, and Leonora in The Troubadour. In the meantime, she became a laureate of international competitions in Italy "Tito Skippa" and "Francesco Chile". Zvetelina Vassileva specializes whit the famous tenor Carlo Bergonzi in Milan at La Scala. This was followed by a debut with the part of Leonora in "The Troubadour" in a production in San Francisco, and in the following season Zvetelina Vassileva appeared in the Russian opera repertoire in "Ruslan and Lyudmila" by Glinka and in Monteverdi's early baroque opera "The Coronation of Poppea". The Bulgarian singer has been highly appreciated by the critics for her participation in the International Festival in Wexford: "Zvetelina Vassileva is a piercing dramatic soprano who should be the name on the lips of every operatic impresario a year from now", and even "Times" writes about her: “…a beautiful, sword-like soprano tone, who pierce only like a true musical sensibility can”. Zvetelina Vassileva has given concerts in most European capitals in the most prestigious concert halls - in the Concertgebouw, Amsterdam (The Wedding, by Stravinsky), in the Royal Albert Hall, London ("Starry Nights" gala concert with Armiliato, Agnes Baltsa, Daniela Desi, Rosalind Plowright, J. Calico, José Cura, Giuseppe Giacomini), and also in the USA- in Toronto at the George Weston Recital Hall ("Giovanna d'Arco" by Verdi and even - in Red Square, Moscow in a spectacular gala concert. Zvetelina Vassileva has worked with some of the most famous conductors of our time - A. Guadagno, M. Arena, D. Oren, B. Haitink, K. Rizzi, M. Armiliato, N. Luisotti, F. Jordan and others. At the end of the anniversary season 2018/2019, in which the Ruse Opera began celebrating the 70th anniversary of its creation, the cooperation with the famous singer with the opera theater began - she gladly took the part of Turandot from Puccini's eponymous opera. At this moment, Zvetelina Vassileva is part of the composition of the Ruse Opera.

Next came her debut with the role of Leonora in a San Francisco production of Il Trovatore, and in the following season Tsvetelina Vassileva appeared in the Russian opera repertoire in Glinka's Ruslan and Lyudmila and in Monteverdi's early Baroque opera The Coronation of Poppea.

The Bulgarian singer was highly praised by critics for her performance at the Wexford International Festival: "Tsvetelina Vassileva is a piercing dramatic soprano who, by this time next year, should be the name on every opera impresario's lips", and the Times wrote of her: "...a beautiful, sword-like soprano tone akin to true musical sensitivity".

Tsvetelina Vassileva has given concerts in most European capitals in the most prestigious concert halls - at the Concertgebouw, Amsterdam (Stravinsky's "Wedding"), at the Royal Albert Hall, London (gala concert "Nights of the Stars" with Armiliato, Agnes Balza, Daniela Desi, Rosalind Plowright, J. Kilico, José Cura, Giuseppe Giacomini), and also in America - in Toronto at the George Weston Recital Hall ("Joan of Arc" by Verdi and even - in Red Square, Moscow in a grand gala concert.

Tsvetelina Vassileva has worked with some of the most famous conductors of our time - A. Guadagno, M. Arena, D. Oren, B. Haitink, K. Ritzi, M. Armiliato, N. Luizotti, F. Jordan et al.

At the end of the jubilee season 2018/2019, in which the Rousse Opera began the celebration of the 70th anniversary of its foundation, the collaboration of the outstanding singer with the opera theatre began - she successfully performed the role of Turandot from Puccini's opera of the same name.

Currently Tsvetelina Vassileva is part of the Rousse Opera.
