On May 4 at 7:00 PM in the Philharmonia Hall, the State Opera - Ruse will present a gala concert dedicated to the genius of Italian opera Giuseppe Verdi. One of the biggest Bulgarian names on the world opera stage - baritone Vladimir Stoyanov - will meet the Ruse audience for the first time.
The joint gala concert of the top star in the opera world, Vladimir Stoyanov, with the orchestra and choir of the Ruse Opera is a privilege for Bulgarian musicians. The idea and organization of a cultural event of such scale is the work of the conductor of the Ruse Opera, Viliana Valcheva, whose authority and artistic inspiration attracted the world-renowned baritone to participate in the creative project, in which the most prominent soloists of the Ruse Opera also take part - the internationally acclaimed soprano Tsvetelina Vasileva, the brilliant singer and actress Daniela Karaivanova, the tenor Boris Lukov, and the bass Momchil Milanov.
Vladimir Stoyanov is among the most sought-after contemporary Verdi baritones worldwide. He was born in Pernik in 1969, a graduate of the National Academy of Music in Sofia, and later specialized at the Boris Christoff Academy in Rome, where his teacher was Nicola Ghiuselev.
In 2019, his photograph appeared on the January cover of the British edition of 'Opera Now' and he was called 'The Crowned Prince of Baritones,' and in October, the '27 Club' in Parma, whose every member bears the name of one of the works of the brilliant composer, awarded him the 'Knight of Verdi' prize.
The awarded knight receives a medal and the so-called 'motivation' written on parchment. Vladimir Stoyanov receives the motivation for knighthood because, in his performing mastery, 'he has expressed the loneliness, sufferings, torments, and anxieties of Giuseppe Verdi’s most beloved characters, with exquisite elegance, which he manages to convey to audiences around the world, with unanimous recognition.'
The name of Vladimir Stoyanov stands alongside the names of those honored with this distinction: Luciano Pavarotti, José Carreras, Plácido Domingo, Mirella Freni, Renata Scotto; the conductors Zubin Mehta, Riccardo Muti, Claudio Abbado, and others.
Vladimir Stoyanov is also the recipient of the highest award of the Ministry of Culture - the "Golden Century" for his contribution to the development and international recognition of Bulgarian opera art.
